Barring, Attacking, & Breaching Doors
In Colony Alpha nearly every door has stats and may be broken down in some fashion. Please note that for safety reasons windows may not be used for entry or egress either in-game or out-of-game.
Doors have three stats: Body, Soak, and Breach Strength.

There are multiple types of doors based on what materials the doors are constructed with. The type of door dictates its stats.
Double doors have double the Breach Strength rating and each side has its own full Body. For example, a double wood door has a Breach Strength of 2 and each side of the door has 10 Body.

Barring Doors
Any door can be barred or blocked, even if it has no lock. Barring a door prevents entry while the bar is in place. Barring a door requires 30 seconds of roleplaying to set the bar in place and secure it.
Attacking Doors
When attacking a door through use of melee weapons or tools that deal damage, up to two people may attack the door at one time.
Example: Using Melee Weapons to damage a door or using a Plasma Cutter to deal damage to the door.
Breaching Doors
Breaching a door effectively destroys a door, as if it was taken down to 0 Body, and allows unimpeded travel through the doorway. In order to breach a door the attacker(s) must have a total Breach Force that meets or exceeds the Breach Strength of the door.
When the total Breach Force meets or exceeds the Breach Strength of the door the door can be broken down. In order to break down a door there is a roleplay time requirement.

There are four ways to breach a door: kinetic, ballistic, explosive, and thermal. Players may only utilize one method per attempt.

Kinetic Breaching
Breaking down a door with physical force Knowledge Required: None
Tools Required: A lever, such as a crowbar, or a tool to concentrate the attacker’s force, such as a sledgehammer or battering ram.
How to Calculate the Breach Force:
Highest rank in Crime OR Security of lead attacker (if applicable), Plus STR score (per the Knowledge: Physique skill) of each attacker, Plus 1 for each tool used. Time Requirement: 30 seconds times Breach Strength of the door.
Up to two people may attempt Kinetic Breaching on a normal-sized door. |

Ballistic Breaching
Shooting out key structural parts of a door Knowledge Required: None
Tools Required: Longarm to shoot out the hinges or locking/latching mechanism and Breaching Rounds.
How to Calculate the Breach Force:
Highest rank in Crime or Security of lead attacker (if applicable), Plus 1 for each Breaching Round expended. NOTE: The maximum number of rounds allowed per door is equal to the number of hinges/latches (usually 3).
Time Requirement: 30 seconds. |

Explosive Breaching
Blowing up a door Knowledge Required: Crime 1, Explosives 1, or Security 1
Tools Required: Explosive charge(s).
How to Calculate the Breach Force:
Highest rank in Crime, Security, or Explosives of lead attacker (if applicable), Plus the Breach Force of each explosive charge. NOTE: Any number of charges can be placed on a door.
Time Requirement: 30 seconds to set the charges. |

Thermal Breaching
Cutting an opening or cutting out key structural parts of a door Knowledge Required: Crime 1 or Security 1
Tools Required: Plasma cutter that can bypass the soak of the door.
How to Calculate the Breach Force:
Highest rank in Crime or Security of lead attacker (if applicable), Plus the Breach Force of the plasma cutter, Plus 1 Time Requirement: 30 seconds times the Breach Strength of the door. |
Taking Doors Off Hinges
Taking a door off of its hinges without damaging it extensively requires access to all hinges or opening mechanisms and the knowledge and tools to do so. Only wooden doors in Colony Alpha have exposed hinges. All other doors have recessed hinges which can only be accessed when the door is open.
The time requirement to take a door off of its hinges is 10 minutes per each rank of Breach Strength of the door.
