After Action Reports (AARs)
After a Colony Alpha event weekend players are able to continue their stories by submitting After Action Reports (AARs) to the game staff.
AARs may include one specific action that the player’s character does during the interim between events. Additionally, players have in-game time between events for crafting, between-event skills, and timed activities (such as psychology or scavenging).
Players have 180 hours between events in order to craft or perform other timed activities. Any crafting, activity, or procedure that specifies a time requirement takes away from the 180 hours. During the winter break between seasons, players have 360 hours in order to craft or perform other timed activities and two specific actions.
AARs are due one week after the event concludes, at 12:00 AM midnight on Sunday. AAR actions should be sent to [email protected]. AAR crafting or time activity usage should be submitted using the Colony Alpha Crafting Form.
Unfortunately, late AARs cannot be accepted, as the game staff needs time to come up with intricate and specific resolutions to each one. There may be times when players are contacted by the game staff for more information about their AARs, in order to help develop the proper response.

What can be done in an AAR?
*ONE single character action, such as to scout an area, visit an NPC, etc… *Use any skills that are specifically noted for between events. *Perform any amount of crafting that does not exceed 180 hours. *Perform any amount of timed activities that do not exceed 180 hours. *Any crafting, activity, or procedure that has a listed time requirement takes away from the allotted 180 hours. Where are AARs submitted?
*AAR actions should be emailed to [email protected]. *AAR crafting (or other timed activities) should be submitted using the Colony Alpha Crafting Form. When are AARs due?
One week after the event by 12:00 AM, midnight, on Sunday. Winter AARs |
If two or more characters are going to collaborate within an AAR, every participating player must send that information with their AAR. That way there is a record of any crafting materials, items, or information exchanged between characters. If only one character mentions specific items that another character has, the game staff cannot assume the second character freely gave them away.
Players must refrain from a series of “if-else” statements within their AARs. For example:
Tobias submits an AAR.
In his AAR Tobias goes to the FOB to look for Doc Frankie. If he cannot find DOC Frankie he looks for Lt. Malloy. If he cannot find Lt. Malloy he looks for Avery. Tobias asks Avery what he knows about the Planetary Coalition. If Avery does not know anything about the Planetary Coalition Tobias asks him about the Martian Defense Force. Etc…
